Benvenuto a Pax Romana Chapter, NSDAR!

Pax Romana Chapter, NSDAR, is the Italian chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), and a part of its Units Overseas. DAR brings together women whose American ancestors actively participated in the American War of Independence (1775-1783).

The chapter was organized in 2008. Though based in Rome, members live all over Italy, as well as in England, France, the United States, and the Middle East. Several members once lived in Italy and have moved, but choose to remain a part of the chapter.

Pax Romana Chapter, NSDAR, actively supports DAR goals adapted to life in Italy. Projects include finding and marking DAR graves in Italy and restoring the graves of other Americans buried there. The chapter also supports activities at U.S. WWII cemeteries, the U.S. Embassy and other U.S. organization activities, Italian earthquake relief, and a home for underprivileged children in Rome. Living in an adopted country, one of the most important assets for this chapter is the friendship that it offers to members.

DAR and Units Overseas

The objectives of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution are to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Since its founding in 1890, the DAR has become one of the top women's service organizations and is comprised of women of all ages with a wide variety of interests and diverse backgrounds.

Membership in the DAR provides the opportunity to:
  • contribute to important service projects
  • honor and preserve the legacy of Patriot ancestors
  • make lifelong friends
  • participate in unique social and service-oriented programs within your community
  • gain valuable leadership experience
  • establish a network of contacts in your community and all over the world

There are DAR chapters around the world: in the United States, one U.S. territory, and twelve other countries. Chapters are engaged in the work of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Since 1897, when the first overseas chapter was organized in Hawaii, Daughters living outside the borders of the United States have striven to balance DAR mission objectives with projects unique to their country or residence.

Pax Romana Chapter, NSDAR, is dedicated to making a difference in the world around us and to enhancing public awareness of the NSDAR mission.
